100% Design London - Part.05 - MOLO

This is the sale booth of Molo in 100% Design London, a product design company most famous for its flexible paper furniture. I introduced this company once before in here. The first time when I saw this idea on internet, I had doubts about the durability and practicability. My doubts are all cleared after I saw the real thing in 100% Design London.

I have to say I absolutely love these paper furniture and they are perfectly practical. It is a pleasure experience to sit on these papers. You can see there are little folds caused by the pressure of body weight when people sit on it. It doesn't do any damage to the piece at all, yet these folds enrich the texture and character of the furniture. Moreover, due to the structure, the entire range of products are extremely flexible, which is very rare in furniture. The physical flexibility of the structure gives a great functional versatility to the product, which allows them to be used freely in different environmental according to users flavor. For example, it works great as a ceiling decoration, as you can see from the picture.

My favorite product has to be the Urchin. Urchin is a paper softlight with the signature soft honey comb structure of Molo. The different between the Urchin and the other furniture is that user can change the fundamental shape of the light. For other products, the shapes are pretty much determined by the cutting of the paper. Urchin's shape can be modify slightly according to personal preference.
